Flash Friday Fun: The frenetic, fun flash animations of Pascal Campion. My favorites: The Door, the Saul Bass like les tomates and the bouncing ball brilliance of Catnip.
The guy has literally dozens and dozens of clips on his website (click on Animations) Some more great ones: Cycle, Clue, Pyramid, and the really crazy Cops.
And, if you think he could make a living doing this, you'd be right. He's a director at Bent Image Lab and responsible for spots like these for PBS and Ritz Crackers.

Whoa. How do I learn to do that? posted by Richard Daly at 4:10 PM on October 26, 2007
Perhaps, more usefully, I admire his faith in his audience to keep up with very fast visuals. posted by Richard Daly at 4:14 PM on October 26, 2007
Yeah, these zip right along. I had to watch les tomates twice before I caught on with the lyrics and what exactly was going on, but once I did it had me chuckling. Excellent link! posted by carsonb at 4:38 PM on October 26, 2007
Also, I've heard it said before, The pleasure in watching this come from the reactivity in the same temporality between sound and picture. posted by carsonb at 4:40 PM on October 26, 2007
Oops. I forgot to mention that I discovered the site via the most excellent Neatorama. posted by ssmith at 5:11 PM on October 26, 2007
Can anyone tell me the basic mediums he is using? My kids want to know.
They think he's using some kind of drawing tablet with a clicker that captures the image into his PC and then he's panning, zooming etc those images inside a flash authoring program. Are we on the right track? Thanks posted by surplus at 6:40 PM on October 26, 2007
Surplus, I think the way he's animating almost all of the stuff he does directly within the Flash program using a pressure sensitive tablet such as those available from Wacom.
Doing simple animations is really easy in Flash with a tablet, it's just really hard to do it with this much energy and panache. The guy has a ton of talent. posted by ssmith at 7:19 PM on October 26, 2007
Thanks ssmith. Those tablets are cool.
And don't worry. Nobody in my house thinks talent like Pascal's is purchased online. posted by surplus at 7:29 PM on October 26, 2007
