[this is great]
That's the most adorable thing I've seen in forever. I wish DC have the foresight to either leave it up or publish it themselves. It reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes, not just in art but also in how it can tug at the heart strings, "he misses" particularly. posted by Kattullus at 7:27 AM on October 31, 2007
I like how he's not particularly cute, but still manages to be... well, sort of cute. posted by hermitosis at 7:28 AM on October 31, 2007
So, we're all in agreement? No one tell DC and it should all be cool. posted by piratebowling at 7:29 AM on October 31, 2007 [2 favorites]
DC, please don't sue him. Offer him a book deal or something. A Little Batman Elseworld would be pretty much the greatest thing ever. Or at least a Bat-Mite one-shot. posted by Greg Nog at 7:33 AM on October 31, 2007

i think a nsfw tag should apply to things that will make us laugh. i'm supposed to be working right now, if i laugh or smile it's pretty obvious i'm not fixing some wireless issue. posted by andywolf at 7:45 AM on October 31, 2007

From now on, whenever someone acts up on mefi, I'm going to figure out some way to internet-wise smack them with a rolled up newspaper and say "quit it!" and then tell them it's okay, because they're just tired and we'll get them a nap. posted by shmegegge at 8:13 AM on October 31, 2007 [1 favorite]

That reminds me; there was a little article in the Oregonian the other day about the "I like turtles" kid (he's a local), the gist of which is that he got a lot of attention and no money out of the brouhaha, and is not going as a zombie for Halloween thank you very much. posted by cortex at 9:09 AM on October 31, 2007

People keep talking about the Calvin and Hobbes kind of feel to this, and I wholeheartedly agree -- it's what impresses me most about all this guy's drawings. The inking has this incredible spontaneous liveliness to it that make me feel like I'm getting sucked into a gleefully anarchic game of Calvinball (and of course, the joyous wide-eyed nature of the characters and writing only further that feel).
A friend of mine once tried to describe the way the television set in Calvin and Hobbes looked. "It's always kinda 'pumpin', you know?" Which is as good a way to describe the aesthetic as anything; each black line looks like life is actively coursing through it.
God, this guy is good. I can't say enough wonderful things about these strips. posted by Greg Nog at 12:00 PM on October 31, 2007
