I just realized that this is my second post via Bad Astronomy. I don't even read it very often, but perhaps I should start. posted by brundlefly at 5:59 PM on November 8, 2007
I'm amused and somewhat saddened that one of the del.icio.us 'recommended tags' for the page is NASA. posted by djwudi at 6:12 PM on November 8, 2007 [1 favorite]
So real and so... harsh and empty.
I have read so many hard SF stories happening casually up there and this little film shows the naiveté of them all. posted by bru at 8:34 PM on November 8, 2007

seriously though, this is a great post, thanks! posted by joeblough at 7:23 AM on November 9, 2007
i thought the 35mm and 70mm film footage of the moon from the late 60's and early 70's was pretty high def already.
Is this really much better than that film footage? posted by JBennett at 8:07 AM on November 9, 2007
Oh, cenoxo already posted that link. Sorry. it really is amazing though. Apollo crews also shot lots of film from close orbit too, so this new HD film just looks the same as that. Still beautiful, but I haven't heard anyone claim that HD has usurped medium formats crown as the highest of defs. posted by JBennett at 8:13 AM on November 9, 2007
Wow. Beautiful. So, do they have pictures of the Alien base? Huh? Where's the pictures of the - what? They edited them out, didn't they? Didn't they? And where are the stars? Huh? Huh?
So photoshopped.
