For the Landsat 7 pictures, each pixel represents a little over half the length of a tennis court. To cover Antarctica, more than 100 billion such pixels are required.
Oh, wow 100. posted by rtha at 2:48 PM on November 27, 2007
You have to look very, very closely.
Then suffer a 1/1d4 Sanity Loss if you spot one.
Actually, seeing a Shoggoth causes a loss of 1d6/1d20 SAN.

Given the size of Antarctica, I'd always hoped that there was something (preferably without tentacles) hidden under the ice. Maybe a wealth of fossils along the lines of Antarctopelta and Cryolophosaurus, or some unique marsupials. posted by Paragon at 3:52 PM on November 27, 2007

The Uncyclopedia's entry on Antarctica is filled with lots of little known facts, such as: "In 1914 [Shackleton] launched his definitive polar expedition to be killed as many times in the Antarctic as possible," and "the ancient, ice-locked cities of Antarctica contain Elder Things, Predators, Xenomorphs, Wookies, Shoggoths, Mole-men, Goa'uld, and Cylons: all waiting for you to get lost somewhere or investigate something you shouldn't." posted by malocchio at 4:32 PM on November 27, 2007 [1 favorite has favorites]
