Happy New Year dear flapjax! Pleased you're pleased. I find this music really joyous. Will watch the ball drop in Times Square from the roof at midnight. Wishing you a great year. posted by nickyskye at 4:36 PM on December 31, 2007
Check this one: some fine makossa from a very unlikely looking singer. posted by flapjax at midnite at 8:55 PM on December 31, 2007
Very nice nickyskye. I've really enjoyed West African music for years, and see Youssou N'dour whenever I can. posted by Eekacat at 9:43 PM on December 31, 2007
Thanks nickyskye! Now I will sleep with crazy awesome rhythms in my head. posted by not_on_display at 12:01 AM on January 1, 2008
I have some great African pop and hip hop songs I've collected over the years. I'm especially fond of Zambian pop and hip hop. There was a great Zambian mp3 blog that's now gone that I'll forever regret not making a MeFi post of. Hopefully, one day in the future, I'll find myself in Zambia, searching for records by K'milian, Ozzy the General and other Zed music stalwarts. Zambia, unfortunately, very much not in West Africa.
That said, fine post. I just wanted to talk about Zambia. posted by Kattullus at 2:48 AM on January 1, 2008
West Coast is too cool, east Coast too intellectual.
See, it really is all about the US!
Thanks, nice post. posted by Wolof at 3:35 AM on January 1, 2008
Great way to start the year—thanks, nickyskye!

This is fun, lots of great sounds. I just finished watching Waiting for Happiness (a great film by the way, especially the cinemaphotography), and this site just keeps the music flowing. Thanks. posted by caddis at 8:40 PM on January 1, 2008
