Diableri, Machinalia and Neurotica. Illustrations by Boris Artzybasheff (previously) from his book As I See.
Thanks for posting homunculus. I especially enjoyed the second link and I probably never would have seen these otherwise.

I like these too, especially the Machinalia. And it touches on a topic I almost did an AskMe about: How does one learn how to draw machines? Semi-artistically, I mean. Somewhere between the isometric CAD style and the softly-lit still life style. Maybe everyone who does that starts at one end and works towards the other?

These are from the 1950's? Have we come so short?

I've always liked Artzy's work. A few new ones for me here; thanks, homunculus.

More fun at the ASIFA (totally different from Artzybasheff): Lawson Wood - The Monkey Painter.

Nice stuff, I have always enjoyed this guy's artwork. Thank you for posting this. Artzybasheff was also famous for his Time magazine covers. Here is an article from a 1954 issue of Time about the publication of As I See.
And look! They have his papers at Syracuse University. Be fun to spend a few weeks going through those.
