True. The Simpson's quiz was fun...weird how after watching the show for the better part of two decades my brain still freezes up when asked to name the main characters.

46 on the Simpsons quiz. But five of my ten minutes were spent doing work so I think I probably could have gotten at least three or four more. Though I couldn't for the life of me remember Doctor Nick. I was running through all the things that sounded right:

Hi everybody!

Hi Doctor Pete!
nope

Hi everybody!

Hi Doctor Rick!
nope, damn it.

...and so on.

I typed in "reverend lovejoy" something like six times before just trying "lovejoy" and meeting success.

This quiz gets bonus points for actually accepting Comic Book Guy's real name.

It also lets you type in chief wiggum's real name. But apparently can't handle fully spelling out "reverend".
posted by LionIndex at 1:54 PM on June 25, 2008

I couldn't get "Jasper", kirk van Houten, mrs Lovejoy, mona Simpson, Skinner's mum and the police officers. I surprised myself in getting Clancy Wiggum and Luann van Houten's first names. I may have watched it too much.

Eh, I got 73/118 on the periodic table quiz. Although they really shouldn't count ~108-118 against you. They've only been named recently and some of them haven't been named at all (112-118). I didn't think to try and reconstruct the Latin place holder names.

Also, screw Astatine for not being spelled Astantine.

I got 43, but haven't looked at a periodic table since high school. There were plenty of head slappers once I gave up though. I did manage to get 10 of the actinides, but I didn't even know they'd gotten to elements above 106.

If it makes you feel better, AsYouKnowBob, I got all the Presidents, all the states, missed two European countries, and three or four Asian ones.

Great, they added new quizzes! I really like this site. When this was first posted, I spent quite a long time doing pretty poorly on all the quizzes, except the Crayola Crayon quiz which was too easy. My favorite quiz was actually the Buffy The Vampire Slayer one because I found sort of an Easter Egg. I typed in my favorite character (not listed in the quiz), and his name/role popped out of nowhere. Let's just say his role was ''Really Old Vampire." (Other Easter Eggs = "Vampire/Seer," "Willow's Love," and "The Trio"). Geeky fun!

AsYouKnow Bob wrote, "And NOBODY is bragging about how they did on the periodic table?"

Chemistry was never my favorite, but after your comment I decided to try. How's 46 out of 118? How did you do, Bob? And, does the fact that I don't have them memorized mean I'm deficient in some way? I can recite the 50 states in alphabetical order, due to a stupid song, but that doesn't mean I automatically have any useful understanding of American history. I was never taught a song about the elements.
posted by knave at 11:20 PM on June 25, 2008

Hey, they do have statistics, and it appears that my 46 is probably slightly above the median. However, the best time for getting all elements correct is "0 minutes, 3 seconds", so there is also some foul play.
