[SO VERY NSFW] Fake or Not? The site will show you ten pictures of boobies, a pair at a time. You must determine whether or not they are augmented. Wes Cherry, creator of Solitaire for Windows, aptly cites it as one of his three favorite websites. [via memepool]

I found MeFi independently and much, much later than memepool. But my first thought when recognizing MeFi for the first time was like, "Oh, it's like a memepool that actually has regular new posts!"

Yup MeFi via MemePool; back then I liked MetaFilter more because memepool had this habit of posting big long winded posts with lots of random links in them.. MeFi was more succinct and to the point.. I mean catscan - genius. Sigh...

Another memepool convert. That place was my first daily-visit link blog, back in college.

I still have the t-shirt I won for my entry in this thing. (I was "chests", and also the conceptual artist and photographer behind "palm", which featured my friend Roj. Bifecta!) It's a good t-shirt. They didn't cheap out.

It's sad that those image links have rotted away.

Trivial. I went 19/20 after I decided it was too easy and started clicking "yes" or "no" instantly upon a new picture without taking any time for, er, deliberation.

Does anybody remember the memepool groupies mailing list? I still have about 10,000 (not an exaggeration) emails from 2001-2002ish that read like MeFi comments threads. I eventually had to leave the list because I realized I could never keep up with the traffic.

This is from Memepool - really? Seems more like Fark's speed. Count me as another who once loved Memepool, their posts always seemed to have high standards. Maybe posting junk like this has contributed to their demise. Just a thought.

Not sure how the scoring works. I got 10 out of 10 pairs right on one go, but was nowhere near a highscore. Perhaps you score higher for correctly judging a borderline case.

That didn't at that exact moment in time feature pics of tits and it was good.

I think I had the metafilter/memepool synchronous discovery too... but damned if I could ever hit the right time when registration was open (I did, eventually, only 6 short years later...).

Memepool. Wow. It updates around once every 6 months these days, almost skipping a year at one point. Joshua Schacter, the guy behind it, gave us GeoURLs and del.icio.us. He's one of the good guys.

I'm getting my tits in a vise over some of these that I just can't believe are fake. I've played it like 15 times now and I only got 10/10 once.

Also, what's with putting the tits in a vise? Smashing them together like that definitely brings out the fake.

Didn't get linked here from memepool, but I was a daily reader of it well before I'd ever heard of metafilter. I still check it weekly. I don't know why I think it'll suddenly start updating again, but if it did, I'd know.

(More recently started doing this with permanent monday as well. It's a little bit morbid, like visiting a loved one's grave every week -- but doing it because you're not quite convinced they're actually dead.)
