Many of these links don't work for me, so I'm just going to comment on the drumming. I'm always so impressed and awestruck by people who play drums well. Not just able to play drums and be in a band, like the majority of drummers - but play them really well. It's moving. Like a language I can understand, but cannot speak. This is some amazing stuff, the rest is beyond me... What is okayplayer and why doesn't it work?

Hmm...my apologies about the broken links (it's really just one link, it's a long thread and I thought I'd pick out the better parts). They were definitely working when I posted them!

realplayer changed its name to be more descriptive of the product.

Not your fault osmo. Too bad this happened on your first post. I can tell you had wonderful intentions.

As I said, the drumming is awesome.

Printer-friendly page version from Google Cache. You want stuff that is "posted by 15".

The main reason it's hellaciously slow is that people have giant images in their posts.

Gotta say, randomly coming across Amy Winehouse folding her clothes in a laundromat in Philly has to be the best story, just for the sheer unbelievableness of it all.

Now that's .... buffering ... funny!

Good post, osmo. I especially liked the Letterman and Chappelle/Prince stories (why is everyone afraid of Prince? Why am I?).

The way the OkayPlayer board is set up, it is the hugest pain in the ass.

?uestlove (Questlove) is an amazingly smart and interesting dude.

Some of these anecdotes are positively Markov-tastic.

i can't even begin to describe the near murder committed on her lil chichi poo poo in a louis v bag dog he almost committed when she let him run loose in our dressingroom

What?

I'm enjoying this a lot. Here's his David Letterman story:

i met dave while rushing to buy a dress shirt for the dangleo show i was about to do in VA...while there i accidently walked in on a bit. and they decided to take it further.---he was boycotting the emmys who if you remember critics dissed his hosting duties and said was the unfunniest emmy program. so his middle finger was if he won he would he would bring us up there to accept.

thing is...i know they brought me in for the freakish factor. but only dave bothered to ask me what do i do in real life....so when i told him he was shocked like "wait you are an established artist?" even funnier was the reference "so if this like us picking up george clintons bass player thinking we got a random freaky guy and we messed around and got an icon?"---i was flattered and said "lets hope you still feel that way when its time for my album to come out"

sure enough.... ive been on his show for every album since then. BASED on that day. nothing but red carpet city from that guy. imma miss doing that show.

The political stuff in there is fascinating - who's for Barack really hard (Kal Penn, Jurnee), one person (GZA) who's "riding for the other team" and gets a head-shake of disapproval.

Related: this reminds me of when Steve Albini outed himself on a poker forum and answered questions about famous people. ?estlove sure seems like a way more cool person to hang around with, though.

?uestlove is an awesome guy. I got to talk to him a bit at a shoot a bit ago. Totally down to earth, not throwing any ego around. The rest of it was an ego-filled day. He was one of about 12 artists on the shoot. Most were very cool, a couple were dicks. ?uestlove was the most real.

Can't post the pix though, they were work-for-hire. :(

Also, she carried said lapdog around in a Louis Vuitton bag, as was the style at the time.
