Established 1995? Wow. Archive.org has pages back to 1999, when they didn't consider themselves "hardcore." Back then, talks of a 3rd Ghostbusters movie were still going.

Talks of a 3rd ghostbusters movie are still going on! Kinda. Most hardcre fans are in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

Pepsi White? Pepsi Goopy Green?

Oh yes.

The Ghostbusters game had better be awesome, though. Or at least not terrible.

Most hardcre fans are in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

Given the horrendous script ideas that have floated around, the talk of doing it in CGI, etc...I know more than a few hardcore fans who are in the "dear god, I hope I never see that" camp.

If only the Gate Keeper and the Key Master could get their shit together.

Are there any examples of a third franchise entry 20 years after a universally disparaged second?

None come to mind.

Ok, am I the only person in the world who likes the second one?

brundlefly: I hear Vince Clortho thought it was pretty good.

Wow, that is a narrow blog. Not only in subject matter, but I'm talking layout here. What is that, 200px? I keep waiting for the other columns to load.

The Rambo that came out about a year ago, although that's a fourth 20 years after a disparaged third.

Also, Superman 5, about 20 years after the disparaged 4th.

I'm the keymaster, how's it goin' eh? Are you, like, the gatekeeper? Beauty!

(Sorry, confusing this with Strange Brew.)

Close enough.

And now that I think about it, Bill Murray's crushing divorce settlement vastly increases the chances.

Um, also Rocky Balboa way, way after everyone swore that Rocky V sucked (although really, it wasn't as bad as most people claim).

I'll jump in there with you, brundlefly. I like the second Ghostbusters film, too.

Our nation has moved past the point when we can look at a circle and call it a square just because of our ideological differences. As Obama said, it is time to return science to its rightful place and time to respect statistics and data. No longer can we as a society just blatantly ignore reality and just randomly, in spite of all evidence, claim that something is one way, when it is clearly another. The days of imaginary weapons of mass destruction and the belief in effective abstinence only birth control are over. It is a new day. Objective reality reigns.

And Ghostbusters II was a crime against humanity and I will punch anyone who says otherwise right in their metaphorical viking face.

hey guys. what's going on. listen, i don't want to bother anybody, and don't by any means think that you need to answer me, but i have a small question that i was hoping someone could help me out with. It's just a little thing. Not a big deal, but you know, I'd like to know:

VY AM I DRIPPING VIT GOO?

Put another one in the Ghostbusters II was good camp.
posted by SansPoint at 2:04 PM on January 21, 2009

I assume those are Ghostbusters II references, but as I have stated before, I have no memory of that movie except for the grief I felt by one of my favorite movies of all time being followed by a sequel that managed to not only suck in and of itself, but to also retroactively tarnish the original by having it mentioned occasionally in conjunction with something so awful (see also Wayne's World II). So, you can speak of goo or Carpathians all you want, but it means nothing to me other than arousing feelings of unspeakable sadness.

I am going to go home and make dinner and then eat it out of my red "The Real Ghostbusters" lunchbox.

I gotta say, that is dedication.

In other news, visits to my Caddyshack-themed blog are way down. It's a crime really.

I still remember the day Ghostbusters II came out. It was playing at the same multiplex as The Return of Swamp Thing. My brother went to see Ghostbusters. I went to see Swamp Thing. I chose correctly.

I missed the beginning of Ghostbusters II because the theater had Rayden II in the lobby.

Also, Vinz Clortho is the best name possible.

An endorsement coming from me does not make Ghostbusters 2 look any better at this point.
