I am the biggest asshole in the world.
Yet this made me smile and felt sorta happeh.
I care not that they dont Walk teh Moon good, what I am moved by is the fact that a whole bunch of strangers worldwide can all contribute to a scrappy little tribute like this.
There is a ballet dancer in one of those vids that does a really awesome interpretation of the moonwalk en pointe! posted by danny the boy at 1:31 PM on July 6, 2009 [1 favorite]

For many of these people simply walking backwards seems like a challenge.

I imagine that, if he's conscious of anything, he's probably just thrilled that they're trying at all.
but it's ok. because you can upload your own video to contribute and show everyone how a moonwalk is REALLY done. posted by shmegegge at 1:39 PM on July 6, 2009 [3 favorites]

Not so. MJ called me from beyond, said this fake-ass moonwalking is killing him, again, and frankly, he said, he's sick of dying. He said this has to stop, for the sake of the children, and the whole world.

Is the loop an actual sample pulled from Billie Jean, or have they recreated it? Cause I can smell the lawyers approaching.
It needs a stop or a pause button, too. Course, then it wouldn't be *eternal*, I guess... posted by flapjax at midnite at 4:23 PM on July 6, 2009

Hey, making fun of white people is OK. It's absolutely OK. White people should never, ever get up in arms about people making fun of white people. Now that we've got that understood, we can move on, laughing good-naturedly at jokes about white people, into a bright, happy, and not-overly-sensitive new day. A shining new future, where silly comments about white people are embraced as all-in-good-fun, essentially harmless. We can acknowledge that such comments as "white people can't dance" often have roots in truth, in undeniable fact. We should chuckle. We should be big enough to laugh it off.
I mean, that's the very least we can do as a gesture of atonement for the brutal colonization and/or enslavement of the Africans and the wholesale murder of the Native Americans, don'tcha think? A little chuckle at the "white people can't dance" lines? C'mon, let's hear ya chuckle a little! Yeah, thataboy! Good! Very good! posted by flapjax at midnite at 10:34 PM on July 6, 2009
From what I watched, no one can moonwalk. Walking backwards is not the same thing. Hell, I can do that, but I can't moonwalk. posted by wv kay in ga at 10:56 PM on July 6, 2009
Making fun of white people implicitly promotes the idea that the colour of a persons skin is indicitive of thier behaviour, I just don't see how this can be considered harmless. posted by onya at 11:00 PM on July 6, 2009 [1 favorite]
