Because you don't see a wookie wearing Kanye shades everyday.

Ouch. I think that may have actually killed the last tiny spark of fondness I had left for the Star Wars franchise. That makes me sad inside.

... maybe you had to be there.

In order to sit through that, I had to end my life. My ghost just typed this. Thanks a lot.

What, no Jabba the Hutt? (Doing the Worm...)

The mind-blowing part is that it appears to be some kind of... official event? By Disney? The mind reels.

What the fuck should we do with orville sash's profile?

Was disappointed that no droids came and did the "robot"...

I'm curious if they are aware that the princess' are performing to a song about f*cking in front of children.

Is this considered Canon?

Let his ghost use it.

Seirously: How many web communities have a ghost as an active contributor?

I think you will be disappointed at just how often ghost writers are actually used.

Wow, someone should show this to Skipper Dan to cheer him up a bit.

Way to go, Orville! That's the spirit! His account ought not be excorcised. In any case, who you gonna call to do it?

Part 2

If my mom danced that way with me I'd be creeped out.

My brain is having a lot of trouble processing this and I may have just had a mild seizure.

No.

For the haters: What? Should Star Wars only be treated with the absolute, utmost respect? Because, um, that star destroyer has sailed.
posted by hifiparasol at 12:30 PM on July 17, 2009 [1 favorite]

It's not the lack of respect. It's the jagged, bad-acid, rotten peyote buzz that just won't go away...

Crap, does Disney really have to have these during the school year? For a minute there, I thought I had my next family vacation planned.

I have a dual monitor setup and a program that will switch the background periodically. I had just finished watching the link and was getting ready to watch part 2 (I'm a sucker for light-hearted entertainment, haters) when this background popped up in my 2nd monitor: .

The synergies, oh how they sparkle.

Okay:

1. I really dig Star Wars. Well, the original trilogy, anyway.

2. I thought this was kinda fun.

3. There was something else, though. A little hint of a comparative culture realization, I think. It had something to do with having familiar dance tropes performed by alien characters from an otherworldly story that made them (the dance tropes and the characters) more real and meaningful. Somehow, for just a brief moment, I think I grokked something deeper about culture than I can't really describe. Or, maybe it was just a mild seizure.

Damn, I meant this is the background that came up.

Move along, move along.

Sometimes the best way to enjoy Star Wars is to have a laugh with it.

This reminds me it's almost time for Blizzcon, which means it's almost time for the Warcraft costume contest. There's a lot of nerd love there.

Does anyone else automatically correct his immediately preceding line to These aren't the droids for which you are looking?

I suppose this is as good a time as any to assert that the local contingent of Star Wars fans has a group of guys called the Stormballs whose sole purpose is to dance around half-naked in public gatherings while wearing storm trooper helmets. Yes, you heard right.

I just want to say, as much as I want to cynically snark at these people....I actually deeply admire them.
