Woman sues bar after getting branded "She was drunk, very drunk," Levitt said. "They will say she wanted to be branded. She didn't really want to be branded."

And I thought I was the only one with a branding iron made in my own likeness.

This whole thing is a HOOT!

I especially like:

Some time after the branding, Morgan was arrested on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, solicitation and lewd and lascivious acts,

Fantastic! And:

"It's just these freaky practices that I think need to be stopped," Levitt said.

How true! And of course...

Anderson made unsuccessful mayoral bids in 1979 and 1983.

GAWD I miss being a reporter.

50 cents off every drink?! That does it... I'm moving to Arizona right now!

Yes, but my favorite part is this:
Anderson was forced to give up his liquor license after being cited for 60 liquor law violations, including (...) staying open past closing time to let patrons show off private body parts.
I mean, showing off private body parts past closing time should be a Constitutional right

Augh! Missed that one! There are just so many interesting sides to this story. This reporter has a real gift.

Just like in Forrest Gump, when the feather takes off after young Forrest Jr. gets on the bus :)

Arizona, you sultry, superheated temptress, I hear you calling my name...

We, the Jury, find for the plaintiff, and hereby order the defendant to pay damages in the sum of 50 cents off the purchase of food and beverages for life.

Besides, it's the Meet Rack. I want a T-shirt that says "I got my ass branded at the Meet Rack."

Beyond that woman being a moron, I find it a bit sad that someone would get a brand for a few cents off their beer. I mean, not only does a brand REALLY REALLY hurt, but it's got ancient cultural significance which is obviously being overlooked by these folks.

What a weird, weird world.

I recently upgraded to IE6, and promptly received an electric shock that rendered me temporarily unconscious. When I awoke, I had a searing pain across my buttocks. Branded cruelly into my skin was the ominous message, "Now you are my bitch. Affectionately, Bill Gates."

The good news is, I also get $5.00 off the next Windows upgrade.

Oh yeah? Sounds mighty fishy coming from the guy who owns THIS domain. Time to come clean, Young Ben.

No brands. Yet. Just a few tattoos and piercings. I have, however, witnessed a branding or two and let me tell you -- it's not something you'd go into lightly.

Here's an interesting fact.

When you get a tattoo, you're supposed to pamper it. Moisturizer, no picking, no sun, etc.

When you get a brand, you're supposed to go at it with a toothbrush everynight. You're supposed to torture it. Pain, pain, pain. Peel the scabs. Scrape at it. That way, you get a darker, more raised scar.

Pretty wild, eh?

Hey, you know what? I saw this story first on Romenesko's Obscure Store and Reading Room.

Eh, I think I saw it in the local paper first. I assume that Sellersburg/Speed did too. It still seems to have made people happy here. Good post, I think.

Swell: the bar does have t-shirts, but it looks like they don't sell any at the website.
