In GNILLEY, one must yell loudly to destroy enemies and remove obstacles. "They die faster the angrier I am," states the developer, Radix.

GNILLEY is one of the products of this weekend's Global Game Jam, 48 hours of largely sleepless, non-stop gamemaking. Via TIGSource.

Our own aparrish participated in this, with a game in which you play a robot who tries to convince people you've passed the Turing Test.

that looks hilarious.

Couldn't you just blow into a cheap microphone enough for it to overload for the same effect? It doesn't seem there is any sort of advanced anger detection algorithm at work here.

That is the funniest thing I've seen in weeks.

Wouldn't be nearly as cathartic, I'd imagine.

"John, we're having dinner with the Smiths this evening"
"Can't, gotta beat Gnilley."
"IF YOU SPEND ONE MORE HOUR IN FRONT OF THAT SCREEN TODAY WE ARE THROUGH! YOU ARE AN ANTISOCIAL TROGLO-"
"Oh, OK, now I'm free. Let me get my coat."

I wasn't sure what to expect, but that was hysterically funny!

That is hilarious!

Also, it took me a minute to see what Inspector.Gadget meant, then I laughed.

We should take this link to MetaTalk during a flameout, challenge everyone in the thread to play, and thus have MetaFilter take over the entire high score board.

It's funny, but it's also interesting that no one has used a sound *input* mechanic until now.

DU, what about Karaoke Revolution?

That totally cracked me up.

It reminds of a multiplayer minigame included with the DS game Rub Rabbits, where you have to pass the DS around performing simple actions like "Hold A and Left", or "Make noise and touch the screen." You have to continue doing your thing until the next person has satisfied their conditions.
In practice what this means is that you end up with a ring of people all screaming and clasping at the DS like angry, confused monkeys.
