Pretty cool, but would be cooler if you could actually play it. posted by edbles at 7:35 AM on April 6, 2010
This is absolutely amazing. The best parts by far are the soundtrack and the cut scenes.
I wish I had to creative capacity to do something like this. Instead, I'll just consume and enjoy. posted by SNWidget at 7:40 AM on April 6, 2010

The fact that you want to is part of why it's so cool. The guy nailed the NES aesthetic so well that it seems like you should be able to play it.

It might get tiresome as a gimmick, and like other period art, it will eventually yield to other things, but I'm not sure the aesthetic is ever going to be inherently annoying to me, not anymore than Romantic or Baroque music are.
Particularly when really well done. I wonder how long that took this guy. posted by weston at 10:56 AM on April 6, 2010 [1 favorite]

Plus, Act 3 dropped the ball a little bit. There were plenty of missed opportunities for video-game-ization ... a timer running out until Captain Hammer unfreezes, for example, or the red clothes being a new option at the end ... the various parties and bank robberies being games that unlock, while maybe a "Billy" level suddenly becomes inaccessible ... posted by WCityMike at 8:11 PM on April 26, 2010
