Singularity University (SU) is an interdisciplinary university whose mission is to assemble, educate and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies in order to address humanity’s grand challenges. With the support of a broad range of leaders in academia, business and government, SU hopes to stimulate groundbreaking, disruptive thinking and solutions aimed at solving some of the planet’s most pressing challenges. SU is based at the NASA Ames campus in Silicon Valley.
One Percent Club
Those students who start new companies (coming out of SU or SU relations) are encouraged to donate 1% (non-dilutive) or 5% (of Founding Equity) of their company to SU. This will help build the University’s endowment.
The companies, their website and the SU Alumni Founders will be proudly listed on the SU website in the coveted 1% site.
We hope that companies in the 1% Club will be the major successes of the next decade.
In particular, I'll wager we'll develop these super intelligent collectives well before non-cancerous solutions to telomere shortening. Instead, we'll more likely see neural stem cell injections that usefully increase neural plasticity, say making language learning easier, thus letting people enjoy more of their not ridiculously long lives.Reminds me of Blindsight, where they had solved the cancer problem but not the wisdom problem. Which is likely to be the same problem for our super-intelligent singualarized post-humans.
