Most of those photos are so artificial, so posed, so deliberately glamorous, that they enter the uncanny valley. The title of one of the posts on that page, "Lifelike Dolls," about sums it up for me.

I love starlet stuff, it's fascinating to see who made it and who didn't - some WAMPAS Baby Stars are legends and some faded before they made more than one picture. WAMPAS was pretty bad (for industry insiders) at predicting who would be the huge stars, like Vanity Fair is now with it's Hollywood issue.

I love how different all of their faces are -- it's not a parade of California blondes with identical noses. Even though their figures are similar, the beauty is in their unique features.
