Cee-Lo is awesome, but is there something more to this than a song that was released several weeks ago? posted by Think_Long at 5:10 PM on October 8, 2010
Take back what I said. That was a worthy enough performance for a post in my opinion. So, Fuck me, I guess. posted by Think_Long at 5:12 PM on October 8, 2010 [5 favorites]
Dear Ask Metafilter,
I'm a middle aged white librarian. My wife says that a bubblegum pink suit is a poor sartorial choice for me. Should I DTMFA?

Didn't the original video get posted here when it first came out? I was sure this was where I saw it. posted by PeterMcDermott at 5:19 PM on October 8, 2010
A good performance of a song that everyone heard like a month ago. That is what this is. posted by 23skidoo at 5:22 PM on October 8, 2010

This redeems Cee-Lo's lack of emotion in the music video. posted by l33tpolicywonk at 5:44 PM on October 8, 2010 [1 favorite]

Just bought the Bruno Mars album tonight. I've said it for years: damn shame the talented young man has to pawn off his best songs to pop stars. So far the album kind of sucks. posted by carsonb at 6:10 PM on October 8, 2010

I am enthralled with his monitors. Drummer was tight, too. posted by cavalier at 6:49 PM on October 8, 2010
Oh god yes. The emotional insanity of this version, coupled with the sheer fucking awesome that is that pink suit and all-woman backup band elevate an already great song into the stratosphere.
Remember these days, friends. Twenty years from now when a 400 lb, opiate-crazed Cee-Lo is grinding out his greatest hits on the Vegas strip, you'll tell your children about the raw joy you felt the first time you heard "Fuck You." posted by felix betachat at 7:01 PM on October 8, 2010 [7 favorites]

Cee Lo's uniformed all-female band finally brings to fruition the dreams so memorably expressed by Prince in his rhythm section and Robert Palmer in his videos. posted by Kylio at 8:44 PM on October 8, 2010 [1 favorite]

Is he a little person? Or is that suit THAT baggy? Inquiring minds want to know. posted by reenum at 11:32 AM on October 9, 2010 [1 favorite]
Not little as much as fat. About 5'6" or 5'7". He's going baggy because Poppin' Fresh is his albino twin. posted by pracowity at 12:17 PM on October 9, 2010 [1 favorite]
He sounds excellent but mix up the backing vocals. Half the fun is in the "ooh-ooh-ooh"s and "ain't that some shit"s. Not to mention the "oh shit she's a gold digger!" which is clearly the best part of the song. posted by nathancaswell at 7:33 PM on October 9, 2010
The official version of this song is my favorite song of the last 15 years.
And I'm being serious. I know it is R-rated adult bubblegum, but it actually speaks to me, which is all you can ask a song to do. The whole lyric base is catch-phrases.
his use of pop culture references to build similes and metaphors are all sorts of awesome. my favorite line is "she's more XBOX, am more ATARI but the way you play your game aint fair".
that right there is pure poetry. posted by liza at 5:00 PM on October 11, 2010
Actual lyric is "I guess he's an XBox, and I'm more Atari..." posted by sophist at 1:42 PM on October 17, 2010
