But seriously, I guess the point is that this is the first Asian games women's cricket championships, and Pakistan is not known as a great country in which to be a woman. posted by Mister_A at 8:20 AM on November 19, 2010
The article mentioned China getting 65 in 'all 20 overs'; is the competition 20-20? Also, congrats to Pakistan! posted by Dim Siawns at 8:27 AM on November 19, 2010

Ah, I see India and Sri Lanka didn't enter. I wondered how Japan and China had reached the bronze medal playoff.
The comments on the article are interesting: a lot of 'well done girls', 'the men could learn from you' and one 'women playing cricket is un-Islamic' which is shouted down bt a few others. posted by Infinite Jest at 8:40 AM on November 19, 2010
Mister_A: Also that in men's cricket, the Pakistani team is in a rough patch, to put it mildly. posted by bardophile at 9:10 AM on November 19, 2010
Thanks bardophile, and I hope the women's team is getting their due at home. posted by Mister_A at 9:54 AM on November 19, 2010
I first read this as:
(An) Asian (cheats) Cricket Gold for Pakistani women.
And I pictured a SE Asian man getting caught defrauding 'Cricket Gold' to try to win the hearts of a group of Pakistani women.
And then I realized as strange as a headline that would be, I've read stranger on the blue. posted by SouthCNorthNY at 11:39 AM on November 19, 2010
Amazing. I wonder why India and B'desh were not participating? posted by Azaadistani at 11:14 PM on November 19, 2010
