I'm not really sure why you posted this here (seems more like FilePile material to me) but thanks anyway. I've been looking for this particular song since I lost my tape years ago. (Index page is here for the curious.)

Anyone know the origins of that "I've got Pabst Blue Ribbon on my mind" song that I keep hearing in my head?

A warning about the RealAudio link would be nice next time.

jjg, I'll take that under consideration. I used to live with BFE, and I got nostalgic.

It might be too "niche" for the front-page here.

But it is quite hard for a new person to discern what is and is not "link-worthy". I see a lot of silly links posted to the front page, why not a silly song?

Also: WARNING! RealMedia link.

I'd have no problem with that being a front page link if it was any good.

Booooooooooooring.

Tunak Tunak Tun it ain't.

zzzzzzzzz

Could somebody post the name of the group so I won't accidently buy any of their CD's? Thanks.

I prefer music with more of an edge.

I don't get the relationship between your comment and the link, but the first thing that came to mind (before I listened to the Yanni clip you linked to) was the Untamed Youth song, "Pabst Blue Ribbon," which is completely different.

They were a great kind of Dick Dale-ish combo out of Columbia, Missouri, before Dick Dale became approved cool, and before the band moved West. Good-time rock, with that surf-guitar-organ feel. A pleasant reminiscence of the band, much as I remember them. A lot of their music came out on the fabulous Norton Records.

Well, I think the song just didn't fit the subject. I mean, when you write a song about PBR, you've gotta make the song feel like PBR, right? That's my theory anyway, and I know one group that, in my opinion, has done just that...

Okay, so it's my own band, Acoustic Herring, and I'm talking about one of our classics from our first album, Pabst Blue Ribbon, I Love You (Warning: mp3 link).

Recorded a few years back, the song features Doug singing, after drinking several cans of cool, refreshing PBR, and then wearing the empty box on his head, and Tim on keyboards, this was one of our most requested tunes. And yes, we know it sucks, but it was fun :) Check out the site if you have a moment. Sorry for the blatant plug, but it *is* on topic, no?

musical PBR aside: back in school, i roomed with a handful of [girl] friends, one of whom was a cheesehead. she was a major smarty pants and was working her @$$ off senior year on her honors thesis, so any study breaks she took—especially those involving beer—were a major event.

i can't remember how exactly the ritual evolved, but every so often she and i would pull a PBR out of the fridge, dim the lights, and slow dance with our beers to Glycerine by Bush.

our neighbor was also a big PBR fan and would come over whenever he heard the song playing, open a beer of his own, and plunk down on the couch to watch us be idiots.

and that's my PBR story.

On reflection, I think what is wrong with my link is: we can't just all post our favorite songs.

Some of the people thought it was a crap song, and then we start the arguments about wether KISS or the Beatles are better...

Also, I understand that it really is rude to link an executable media file without warning, especially RM, which many people are boycotting.

At least the last guy got my little joke... I'll try again later.
