I'm really saddened by this story. People got annoyed at the guy because they said he was ruining their fun. What about his life? Who gave them the right to intrude upon him, to insert themselves where they were not invited - and not really welcome?

You must not have reached the happy ending, Rich. He set up an e-mail account to receive photographs from people who wish to insert themselves (therealgorgeousguy@yahoo.com).

Oh, I know he finally relented, but that was after he said to leave him alone, and he lost his girlfriend.

I'm amazed by the reaction people had to him saying to leave him alone.. as if they had some sort of right to harrass and spread his personal information when he didn't initiate any of it.

Net-net, I don't feel sorry for this guy.

Ugh. Hope the dot-market recovers in SF - looks like there are some seriously bored folks out there...

in other breaking Craigslist news, the saga of Britt and Tiff was booted from the same section and has now found a home at diaryland. it helps if you know what 'the Marina' is, and is probably a lot funnier. for those outside Baghdad by the Bay, the Marina has been labelled as the stereotypical snootyville section of town.

Gorgeous Guy got what he deserved. That's what he gets for carrying a gray bag in SF!

Oh, that's great. I see feature film potential in this one!

This is so funny. It's just like the Chicago Reader's (and probably other alternapapers) old Personals section, before there were actual SWF seeks... types of classifieds, which was always full of personal little digs at people with bizarre handles. It was like a Metafilter in slow motion, one post a week ....

C'mon. He was asking for it. You don't want the attention, don't be gorgeous.

I'd like to take this moment to point out that Craigslist is undergoing a bit of a funding crisis. It's a wonderful product, free to end-users, a zillion well-targeted (self-selecting) subscribers, a clean and well-formed business model, but there's always room for more classified-buying clients. I have no doubt you'd have greater success posting your ad on Craigslist for a few bucks than you would have by posting the ad on every free classifieds site on the Internet.

maybe they should open up a Crime-fighting section on the site, and use their collective power to track down bad guys.

If this guy doesn't want the attention, maybe someone should rough him up so he isn't so gorgeous anymore... (not that I'm advocating violence...)

In the future, gorgeous people will have plastic surgery so they can blend in with the general public.
