How about some feel-good stories? Anybody heard about the lovesick guy in Australia who flew to England to surprise his girlfriend, only she flew to Australia to surprise him at the same time? And from Cincinnati, a healthy baby girl was born to a mother who's been in a coma since a car crash 8 months ago.

I know people have asked to post less regurgitated news on MeFi, but I at least wanted to balance darker stories with nice ones such as these. I hope they brighten your day!

I read the second on this morning, made me a bit sad really.

(ick, the gate's site blows. a link a little closer to the story.)

i don't know if a baby being born to a woman in a coma is such a feel-good story. the baby's mom is in a coma, after all. the lovesick guy story reminds me of that friends episode where ross flies to britain. in fact, it's pretty much exactly that episode, except australia, not britain.

It probably made the father/husband feel pretty good. He didn't lose both of them, after all.

The lovesick guy story is a duplicate of a recent commercial, where the guy and girlfriend fly to surprise each other in Paris and DC. . . anybody remember that ad?

Their return planes passed each other in mid-air.

Why didn't one of them just stay put?

The second story sounds a little to close to 'girlfriend in a coma' (the book, not the song) for my liking. I hope this isn't the start of the end of the world.

I'm half hoping it is.
