Spewing Forth Information

Webster's Online Dictionary I came across this online dictionary project when I was searching
for a word better than "spewing" to describe the
sentiments pouring out of an otherwise romantic
letter.

I searched for "spew antonym" and came up with a link
to your Webster's Online's definition of the word.

Wow! What a dictionary! They taught me more about that
word than I ever dreamed was possible. I am now a
spewing master. I will no longer regurgitate in the
same manner. I can spew in 100 different languages. I
can recite the spewage scene coming out of "Wayne's
World."

I can quote the more erudite Miguel De
Cervantes: "Good painters imitate nature. Bad ones
spew it up."

I saw biblical usages: "So then because
thos arete bitwene bothe and nether colde ner hot I
will spew ye oute of my mouth." from Revelations Ch. 3
V 16.

I could go on and on but I head is reeling and I
fear that I may (or you may):

Vomit, throw up, regurgitate, spew, puke, keck, retch, heave, upchuck, chuck up, barf; belch out; cast up, bring up, be sick, get sick, worship the porcelain god or simply spew if I go on.

Gentlemen and ladies, it is worth checking out.

Well, folks! I suppose this is payback for all those political posts of late. And by late I mean the last 4 years and one month.

Well, this post followed my very first post. While I will not make any arguments regarding content, I will say that I win as far as formatting on the front page goes.

Yes, we can see that.

Hey, don't blame all us newbies. I know better than to post something that long and poorly formatted on the front page. Of course, I lurked on this site for over a year before I got an account, so I know generally how things work around here.

Hey notmtwain, it's usually not a good idea to take up so much front page real estate. If you have a lot to say, post a couple of lines to the front page followed by a [More Inside], and then finish what you have to say inside.

Um, wait, I mean, DUMBASS N00B!!!!

No way -- didn't you read his defense? Don't you appreciate that It was a "pretty exciting" link, and besides, in the long history of MetaFilter, nobody had ever posted a link to the dictionary definition of "spew" before!
posted by pardonyou? at 7:53 AM on December 1, 2004

It looks like he either typed it out on a word editor for (possibly) spellcheck purposes and then just pasted the entire damn thing in a window, or he completely ripped it off from someone else's website.

Either way, he deserves death, and perhaps post-humonous anal rapage.

Matt! Matt! Wake up and fix the front page!
