That's not a HOWTO, that's a "back in the day."
the format of a HOWTO looks like this.

Well, that's certainly going to alter the dynamic of the next metafilter meetup.

The liquor should flow freely, the food should not be especially gas-producing (save the Three Bean Salad for the church picnic)
*ahem*

Yeah, that thing's got a lot less detail than a HOWTO really would. It's a ten-paragraph nostalgic blog entry.

Man, if the Lord God Almighty ever made anything better than trying to keep a semi-loaf in some pudgy lady from Westchester while trying to dodge away from a splatter of angry-bald-black-socked-husband semen then he kept it for himself, all I'm sayin' yo.

Why, why didn't he include anecdotes about fistfights and Goats?
That's all anyone wants to hear about.

cavalier: No, I'm most definitely not*. Kuro5hin is not my personal blog. :-)
* Ok, well, maybe a little, but not like that.

k5 has also proved that there is such a thing as too detailed a plan.

Uh, Dantien, NSFW is a warning used when a link is Not-Safe-For-Work, but isn't obviously so. An empty looking field requires a, "Warning - Land mines" sign. A land mine museum? Not so much.

And so a site on how to host an orgy is, by your estimation, safe for work? Really? Can I come work at your company?
How, on the front page, did that link indicate it's content?

A site on how to host an orgy is actually fine at my company. As long as there's no pictures. Text is ok.
Although myspace is blocked by the company filter....so I'm not sure what that says about the company.

As a datapoint: I browsed to and posted the porn database links from work. Text alone isn't usually NSFW.

actually, a computer cant scan pictures for offensive content, only text. It takes the human eye to determine whether an image is offensive or not. I would think it is the text that sets off the flags in the filters.
Please continue.

If you are going to get in trouble for setting off text filters, you shouldn't browse mefi at work at all. All sorts of naughties are common in the comments.

I'm trying to imagine an orgy of k5 members that turns out well. Hard enough to maintain some semblance of firmness knowing I'm in a houseful of ofay white dudes with no pants on. All I need is 10 of them taking time out of their busy session, popping in to savage my technique. Which would immediately devolve into an argument of Windows v. Mac or something.
In sum: no thanks. -1.

yerfatma: Any orgy of actual K5 members would be guaranteed to take place on IRC, so you're probably safe.

cavalier: I was in a bar the other day, and I said "So a Catholic, a Jew, and a camel walk into a bar..." and then a Catholic, a Jew, and a camel walked in. So I totally know how you feel.
