2D fun with ferrofluid

Ferrofluid seems to be endlessly fun. A year after the timeless Prodtrude Flow, comes 2D ferrofluid craziness. The first half is interesting, but the second half is amazing.
Cool and just ever so creepy (in a sci-fi "escaped from the lab" sort of way)

That was like Keith Haring coming back from the dead or something. F'n'amazing.

That was slick. It reminded me of animation from the '60's for some reason.

Having discovered the link to protrude/flow from the previous post looks dead, I found the mother lode on youtube

Creepy like this, just cornstarch and water (not the original sound, watch to the end).

I can't really say why—the protrude/flow folks are on the money as far as "installations that speak to primitive emotions"—but this shit makes me want to run screaming. Fucking Lovecraft in action. Heebeejeebies.
It's only a small part of my brain, but that part of my brain is really deeply fucking disturbed by these visuals.

What's the texture of the ferrofluid when its doing its thing? Reminds me of Armus, for trek nerds out there...

This is really very cool
It'd be cooler if these MIT geniuses could figure out how to EQ their audio, though.

No kidding, dozo. Although the shitty audio made the video all the more endearingly geeky.
"It's so cool that the audio sucks!"
