The U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association

The U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association has a pretty detailed site up. On the one hand, It has made me anxious for the roar of the engines and the smell of the fresh cut grass, but it makes me sad too - ever since Sta-Bil bought out the lawn mower racing circuit, it's become way too commercial. My favorite line is a caption from the picture on the front page: "The Webmaster Leadin' the Pack on his Blades of Thunder in Lisle, IL." It's nice to see someone who is able to combine their work with their passion.

In a previous life, I worked on a site for the NTPA (National Tractor Pullers Association). The site has gone down, but here's another one. I guess these are the big boys of lawnmower racing.

Oh man! Nitro-burnin' Tractors!

I never really got into Tractor Pulls (the Demolition Derby was always my County Fair attraction of choice), but my grandfather *loved* them.

Never mind tractors....wait till all you Merkins get into Formula One racing when it comes to Indianapolis for the United States Grand Prix in September!

Tractor pulling and lawnmower racing, to say nothing of NASCAR and IRL....sheesh. You've not seen racing till you've seen F1 (CART comes close, but not quite)!

I suppose F1 is okay if you like that sort of thing... for me, lawnmowers are the everyman sport that "Stock" Cars used to be. Now if you really want to talk about hot racing action...

Silly boys, it's not about speed, it's about distance.

Nope, not totally...it's about keeping control at speed and being reliable enough to go the distance....this thread is now going to turn into something sexual ;-)
