After spending years engaging with MAGA members, Q followers, and other believers in conspiracies, The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper finally takes stock of all the crazy and tries to understand it. The six-part podcast Jordan Klepper Fingers The Conspiracy [Apple Podcast page with listening links] features conversations with sane people who are experts in different conspiracies, and outlines their origins and how it all fits together. Episodes run around an hour. posted by hippybear (12 comments total) 17 users marked this as a favorite

I really wanted to like this, but there are so many ads in the podcast! It’s almost unlistenable.

Huh. There are zero ads in the YouTube version, so that's an odd thing. I didn't listen to the audio version.

I watched the audio version. Wasn't much to see.

That's what they want you to think. Actually you've just subjected yourself to hours of subliminal leftist visual propaganda, none of which you can now remember seeing.

I really wanted to get into this but it's super hard to listen patiently while certain people jabber on with no facts. Started with the 9/11 conspiracies. Gonna give it another try on some of the topics though.

Related book: I recently re-listened to Jon Ronson's "Them: Adventures with Extremists" (which he narrates!). Fascinating. His view is that many conspiracy people have converged on a strangely similar idea: a small group of people run the world. And, he visits them! With Alex Jones!

Huh, I saw a question mark. Maybe get your eyes checked?

To be fair, that's not wrong.

Where the conspiracists go off the rails is in thinking that the small group of people involved is somehow not well documented on the Forbes rich list.

There is nothing shadowy about these people, and it's not a conspiracy when it comes with that much PR. There's no disguising who they are, and there's no disguising what they're doing. You don't need a conspiracy if what you have is vast amounts of wealth, the power that brings, and a shared interest in stopping any State from taking any of it off you.

Don’t bring me into this shit. My conspiracies are fun and light hearted.

There are zero ads in the YouTube version

Which doesn't seem viewable in the UK.
