Cookie Monster makes an appeal to host Saturday Night Live.
As with Betty White (previously), Cookie Monster has a viral campaign on facebook.
If chosen to host, this would not be Cookie Monster's first appearance on Late Night Television, as he has already appeared on the Colbert Report, after Steven Colbert accused him of abandoning the Cookie Agenda.

Ugh this would be a disaster. Unless the Sesame Street people insisted on writing all of Cookie Monsters sketches with zero input from the SNL writers.

Yeah, the muppets were a staple of talk shows in the 60s like the Tonight Show etc.
Right on, amethysts. Apparently the muppets only lasted one season on SNL for just that reason, the SNL people were the ones who did the writing and didn't know what to do with those puppet things. *sigh*

See, this is the flip side of the Betty White campaign. Any ol' person/muppet can be campaigned for, and if enough people warrant it, get the spot. Which isn't to say that Cookie Monster still wouldn't be better than January Jones...

I have to work on Saturdays. As for Cookie Monster, he can fall back on his gig as the lead singer of Korn. Also, SNL has sucked for decades and I'm amazed anyone still cares about it.

Grover seems like a better match for SNL. Cookie Monster has mellowed with age.

The thing that needs saying here is that Cookie Monster is a freaking comic genius. His timing is excellent, his body language is constantly hilarious, he's never out of character. Oh, and HE KILLS. He's been more consistent over more decades than Steve Martin and Tina Fey rolled up together. He's the shit! That he's not been given the Twain is an utter tragedy.

Cookie Monster on SNL would be horrible. SNL done entirely by the muppets would be awesome. I just want another 55 minutes of this video.

I would happily settle for just CM. Although a skit with Liz Lemon and Tina Fey would be awesome. As as far as rolling up, I will happily be rolled up with Fey any time, anywhere.

I'm kind of surprised at how unentertaining I found this video. I really wanted to like it, but it left me feeling that Cookie Monster on SNL would be even more awful than SNL without Cookie Monster.

I can't stand this whole "cookies are a sometimes food" thing. I get that they want to send a healthy message to kids, but why can't they just introduce Veggie Monster? Or, you know, scare kids by telling them that Cookie Monster was a person and he ate too many cookies and look at him now!

Eponysterial. No seriously, this is a crying shame. SNL's better than it has been in a very long time, with a deep bench of really good impressionists, parody sketches that are pitch-perfect in tone, and Andy Samberg, who I think is decisively better at funny song making than Adam Sandler ever was. Keenan Thompson and Fred Armistan also stand out among the great cast members.
Watch last week's Thanksgivies sketch, or Middle School Kids or Back to the Future Screen Tests and try not to laugh. These are all just from the last few weeks.
