Weather Geekery

I've been greatly enjoying the NZ MetService weather blog for a while now. There are posts about cloud formations, weather pioneers, forecasting, and all kinds of other weather geekery. It does have an NZ slant in places but everyone has weather, and the technical information included is fascinating whatever your location.

As a bonus, check out the MetService flickr stream, gorgeous user-submitted weather photographs.

Capital Weather (for the DC area) is another good, geeky weather blog.

Another weather wonderland is Tom Skilling. And the NWS for folks in the US has a lot of good stuff like that. Especially in their storm recaps.

Even though I look at the Metservice site everyday for Wellington's weather, I never knew about the blog nor the Flickr stream. Amazing - especially the Flickr stream which is a great source of wallpaper images. Thanks for posting, shelleycat.
