There are many, many things wrong with this, but here's one I hope is a reporting problem: Since when does an executive branch get to issue a search warrant?

"I'm going to get scurvy!"

"I'm going to be maimed in an industrial accident!"

"I'm going to become a streetwalker and die at age 42!"

I think we are already in fascist America and future historians will wonder why no body realized.

I don't think they were collecting on a defaulted student loan. This sounds like a fraud investigation to me.

That said, SWAT teams are a cancer.

The article doesn't say anything about collecting on a defaulted student loan. In fact, it actually indicates the opposite - that the Department of Education Office of the Inspector General was involved in a criminal investigation.

There's nothing to see here. Sorry.

This seems like outragefilter without sufficient information:
According to the Department of Education's Office of the Inspector General, the case can't be discussed publicly until it is closed, but a representative confirmed the department did issue the search warrant at Wright's home.
They were looking for the guy's estranged wife, but no information is provided about her. Yes, police state, terrible thing, but there is so much missing from this news report.

There's nothing to see here. Sorry.

The Department of Education SWAT Team exists. That alone is something to see here. Plus the part where they can apparently generate search warrants out of thin air and don't have to check to see if they're actually going to the target's current address before they break the door down and point firearms at the residents.

"We can confirm that we executed a search warrant at the residence, however our policy is not to discuss details of our on-going work."

That must save so much embarrassment.
