Study Shows Internet Alters Memory

The "Google Effect" affects how you remember information. The effect of search engines on the brain may make us more likely to forget data we find online - instead we are more likely to remember where to find the data. Check out the Columbia University Article for a more detailed analysis.

I seem to remember reading this before.

Took only 4 days to forget it. It must be true.

That means we need to post it every four days in order to remember.

Now, if only there was a tool to help me remember where I could find such information.

Memory lapses can be awkward.

Previouslier, and I'm sure a dozen times before that not that I'll get any credit for my prognostication. See, I knew it!

I refuse to believe this post isn't a meta joke.

This reminds me of something that was posted earlier. Can't remember what it was, so I'm off to AskMeFi to get the people there to look for it for me.

I've been bitten by this before, where I find something interesting on the internet that's deep and complex, so I remember where I found it for reference later, than a couple years pass and I go back and it's like all

That template appears to be beloved of domain squatters. I have come to hate those words, so often have I encountered them when trying to follow up on something.

Solution: Do what pla does - Don't just bookmark a site. Rip the whole site.

Obviously, that doesn't always work so well... With any programmatically-generated content (ASP, PHP,, etc), you may well get almost nothing in a rip. And for bloggish sites (even "real" ones like MeFi), although they may have interesting older content, we primarily use them for their very recent additions. But for the majority of sites out there, you can get a pretty solid local copy of the "good" parts of it.

Now where did I file that rip of Interestingsite.com? ;)
