Roderick on the Line - An audio program in which Mefi's Own Mr. Merlin Mann and Mr. John Roderick of the Long Winters discuss their many problems, including pixxxxxie grrrls, Rem Koolhaus, corporeal punishment, Goodwill organization, and many others. It lends itself to in-jokes.

I'm an unabashed fanboy for everything Mr. Mann does, and this show is no exception.

It's ok, but it's not scratching the You Look Nice Today itch.

Problem #1: Still no new Long Winters album.

Incorporeal punishment!

I'm dumb and can't spell. Corporal punishment is probably better.

Problem #2: Date rape jokes.

(I'm an unabashed fan of damn near everything Mr. Mann and Mr. Roderick do, both together and apart.

BUT.

Rape jokes make me close that browser tab before you get to the Rem Koolhaas joke I opened it for. I want to love this podcast with all my heart and I can't do that if you spend it talking about an act of violence that falls into the category, as posited by Mr. Mann's own offspring, of "not even a joke.")

Huh, I've been listening to this for the last few weeks and didn't realize one of them was a Mefite. It's a pretty funny podcast, and they have a pleasant camaraderie.

I tried to listen, I could not. I am not cut out to be a podcast listener.

BUT, if you don't know who John Roderick is you should. He is the guy from the Long Winters.

"Fire Island, AK" from Putting The Days To Bed

"Ultimatum" from the EP of that name

"Blue Diamonds" from When I Pretend To Fall

FFS Metafilter, isn't it time this band was famous? What do you need, a jam between Roderick, John Hodgman and Jonathan Coulton?

Fine, here.

They referred to this thread in the latest podcast! (But only to express frustration with the date rape comment.)

So they did! I'll just say for posterity that these things are complicated and I enjoyed ep 12.
