It's the way I told 'em

I just mentioned my grandfather's love of the old Irish comedians on MeFi earlier today, and while I don't remember Frank Carson's name, his catchphrase -- " "It's the way I tell 'em" -- sure sounds familiar. So, on behalf of one who went before ya, Frank:

Being Northern Irish doesn't preclude being Irish, at least from my (Northern) Irish perspective.

Well indeed, but I've met plenty of Northern Irish folk who have bridled at being described as Irish. Anyway, don't want to start a derail.

Wasn't familiar with him, but read all three linked obits and he seemed pretty funny...liked that one about filing down a 50-cent piece.

Carson was also a veteran of the Parachute Regiment and took part in the airborne invasion of Egypt back in the 50's. He has/had some stories to tell about that.

Aye. Another old comedian karks it, another reminder of my own mortality.

He loved golf. I've heard stories that he'd continually tell jokes to his companions...for the whole 18 holes.

I upset a few people today when I let them know Frank Carson was dead. Maybe it was the way I told 'em...

I hear he has a favourite campanologist group lined up for his funeral. It was the way they tolled 'em.

What's black and furry and hangs from the ceiling?
An Irish electrician.

Irish bar jokes. Gotta love 'em.
A conservative, a moderate, and a liberal walk into a bar. The bartender says "What'ya have Mitt?"
