Need to wish someone a really special happy birthday or congratulations or even a simple, heartfelt Happy Thanksgiving? Why not send them a singing telegram from India?

My wife sent me a TajTune for some occasion a few years ago. I still have the MP3 of it somewhere. It was awesome.

At first I was all, "woo, hoo! Fun, hilarious, clever!"

But now I wonder if there a hint of mocking in this. If it were Bollywood-ish I would love it to bits.

But it seems to be almost deliberately amateurish... when India has so many very cool tunes and a gazillion good singers. Almost every Indian Indian I've ever met has loved to sing the Bollywood songs... and usually pretty damn well.

Such a shame not to use the great ones and enjoy the Indian ness, not the silliness.
