This made my little nerdy self break out in a big grin.

FUCK YES. This made me squee. ROCK ON, NASA JPL NERDS!

I was prepared to hate this like I hate everything but it made me... what's that called? When you frown except your mouth goes the other way? Smool?

Important note: This is not a NASA production, officially or otherwise. The closest they come is that"... a member of the cast and production team, Anne Ketola, is a former NASA employee."

(I mean, yes, it's cute, but - at least for me - there's a big "glee!" gap between "some people made a thing to say they like NASA" and "a bunch of actual NASA folks did a goofy fun thing."
posted by Tomorrowful at 3:17 PM on August 15, 2012

I'm the opposite, I think. I like it more because it's just a bunch of people who think NASA is awesome.
posted by Justinian at 3:18 PM on August 15, 2012 [3 favorites]

I like it better because it wasn't made by NASA.

Today, on my lunch break outside my office in DC, I stood on a corner next to a cop (gun and all) whose badge said NASA Protective Services. Do you know how hard it was to *not* ask, "Ohmygod, do you know Mohawk Guy?"

It was really really hard. Now I wish I had, because I bet it would have made him laugh.

This totally made me smool, too! And now I'm going to do my part to assist in the viral-izing of this video.

It would be by this guy. Love the olive drab NASA logo, really caps off the image for me. From www.boston.com/bigpicture/2011/07/space_shuttle_era_ends_with_at.html

Pass the peanuts!

I'm sad the sub sandwich platter in the JPL break-room didn't get a shout out. I know that was the number one thing on my mind, when watching the JPL live stream last Sunday, was wondering when are they going to break out those sammies.

I think Curiousity should go visit Opportunity. I've been worried that Opportunity's been lonely since Spirit went silent.

Spirit didn't really go silent. They're just on a break.

I am curious about NASA's plans for fembots, as revealed by this shocking video.

Have you noticed how nobody talks about the cat anymore? Curiousity KILLED it. Probably landed on it with those big bloody tracks it's got.

Love it! My young astronaut will enjoy this very much - we've made up fake verses for the original and I bet she'll enjoy this even more.

Is there a secret chamber of the forbiddenly rich where they decide what the next showy status symbol will be, because, if so, they should take a bloodvote on groceries-by-spacecrane being the new G4 among stars and dictators. And then that motion should pass through their bloodcourt and remake reality in its hushed image.

Also children should be able to ride spacecranes at a carnival built just for that purpose through spacecrane grants, but basically if I get one out of two I will be happy with our species for the time being.

If it was actually NASA members that would be extremely awesome. As it is, it is only semi-awesome.

NASA DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE IT BECAUSE THEY'RE NASA BITCHES.

Is this the thread where one guiltily admits to really enjoying LMFAO despite all the reasons one certainly shouldn't? And by "one" I mean a friend of mine. No? OK, carry on.

Oh no, lyrics to "Party Rock Anthem" have started to form in my head

Mars rover in the Gale tonight
Everybody just have a good flight
We gonn'a make you lose your mind

EVERY DAY I'M SKY-CRANIN.

I need to go lie down now.

I disagree! This is made by people who are so into NASA they did it on their own. If it was made by people who work for NASA I would wonder if they did it entirely of their own free will.

NASA has gotten a lot cooler since I worked there (OK, not really since they didn't do the video--BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE).
