Strip tease for the trees. Now this is environmentalism that every red-blooded American male can get behind. What next, "Chippendales Say Earth First!"

One of the protesters, a 22-year-old who gave her name as ''Maple,'' said she was surprised at how agreeable the loggers were when confronted by topless women.

Wonders never cease. Now it seems lumberjacks like looking at bare-breasted women. Whatever next? Burgers, beer and football?

In other news ... the company is now 6 months ahead of schedule due to the sudden inexplicable influx of dozens of volunteer lumberjacks.

"To log the hole in the Headwaters is like raping a virgin..."

And a new generation of boys now have a new slang term.

Thank you, La Tigresa. Thank you.

International criticism arouse when the Taliban dynamited giant 1,500 year-old Buddhist statues, and yet we don't think twice about chopping down 3,500+ year-old living trees. And those are the surviving ones. Historical evidence indicates less than 100 years ago there were 5,000+ year-old trees in California. Gotta love America.

The statues the Taliban destroyed had meaning. Trees in their natural state do not have meaning, which is imbued in objects by conscious intent.

Friday's action marked the largest environmental strip-tease to date.

There's comedy, there's high comedy... and then there's that line at the end of the article.

Kindall? Sorry. Trees have meaning. Just cuz Man didn't cut them down and turn them into outhouses, doesn't mean they lack meaning. I'm no tree-hugger... weell, actually I am if I'm really drunk on vodka, but that's a long story.

dgallo: quoted, "To log the hole in the Headwaters is like raping a virgin..."

Could be worse.

cute and funny but gross link. A wee bit over the top. Please send small children out of the room before clicking on this link. Thank you.

dhartung: I have indeed. So much so I had to look up YHBT! I suspect this has happened many, many times before... To tell you the truth, until about, er, last week, I thought "troll" meant "ugly dwarf-like creature who insults people". :-)

If a tree has meaning, what is that meaning? How can you tell? Who gave it that meaning?

No, meaning arises from intent, which trees lack completely.
