Founded over beers in the summer of 2007, Caught by the River aims to document three friends' (and their friends') obsessions with British angling, waterways, books, records, movies, and pubs.
More recently, birds, urban nature, and a strong thread of post-punk antiquarianism have crept in, some very interesting and under-the-radar writers have come on board, and CbTR has expanded to include a press, a record label, a zine, a small shop, a podcast, and a "social club".
