Decent sketch made impeccable by the glory of George Takei's delivery of everything.

I'm so happy that I live in a time where a 75-year-old, out gay Japanese-American character actor is the hottest thing on the internet.

My brain still refuses to process the proper pronunciation of his last name, but also understands how rhymes work, so I keep reading that as "come out as guy with George Takei."

Dude, I would pay WAY more than that for Takei. And I'm not even a Homersexual.

This will help.

Man, the national conversation on glb issues really has changed. This is wonderful. And yeah, I would pay a whole lot more than that for Takei.

Relatedly: Did "fifty shades of takei" get posted on the blue, yet?

And married, to boot.

Man, except for the homophobia, the gay bashing, the ostracization, the stereotyping, and all that other accumulated societal baggage surrounding where people prefer to put their genitalia, those gays have got it made!

The part where he backs up to disappear behind the curtain again is the genius.

I read it as "come out as gay AS George Takei" and thought to myself, this is a difficult standard to live up to but I will do my best.

I think he's married to a man, actually.

Can't help thinking there's some meta meaning with Andy Richter doing this. Didn't his college professor dad come out as gay?

Darn it, why don't I have anyone left to come out to?!

These lucky little homosexualists, having all the fun of coming out! We who lived in the shadow of Ellen, outed in obscurity, our little lights extinguished or at least dimmed by the magnificence of her own outing. I wail, I gnash my teeth. I weep salty bitter tears. I cross-stitch my feelings onto a sassy throw pillow.

I think I'd be willing to switch teams if that was part of the package.

I have always heard that coming out around the holidays is a bad idea. It's one of the reasons I haven't had that discussion with my parents yet, I've only been out for a little more than a year, but haven't been home except for holidays.

Either way I parse this, it sounds extraordinarily difficult.

So... you're saying a publicly out gay man married... a man? The dickens you say! (so to speak)

I think zippy meant Geoge Takei is married to a man, and not a boot.

no one likes the joke explainer

Yes. You can hear Richter talk about that on Fitzdog radio.

Richter is quietly but significantly one of the most gay friendly people in Hollywood. Here he is in Prop 8, the musical. Here he learns about teabagging. And, of course, he married Formula Une racer Jean Girard and planned to move to Stockholm and develop a currency for dogs and cats to use.
