Charles Fréger traveled though 19 European countries over a two year period searching for still-practiced pagan rituals, particularly ones involving tranformations of man to beast, and documenting them photographically. The pictures have been published as a monograph, Wilder Mann: The Image of the Savage, and the series is currently on view in New York at the Yossi Milo Gallery. Selected photos at Slate.
