I have a friend who has been teaching me the ways of the Comic Nerd. I aspire to be this child. (I did get most of the questions right, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Almost as smart as a 4-year old...)

But does she know as much about them as Little Girl Stan Lee?

Does she know this because she's into comics, into the movies, or because that's what her parents are teaching her? I feel like that's relevant somehow. I'm more impressed with the little girl who could point out pretty much any place on a world map.

Seriously not trying to poo on this, she's cute and it's amusing.

And are we seriously still having the "do girls read comics?" conversation? Of course we do. They're little books of drama and sexy people. They're soap operas that any gender can feel comfortable getting into.

It's very common for this age to be EXTREMELY INTERESTED in memorizing EVERY DETAIL of some subject. Dinosaurs, for instance, or kind of trucks or superheroes.

I doubt you get this much from the movies and unless she's fairly precocious she probably isn't reading the comics (and certainly not getting the right pronunciations from them). So that leaves: parents. Probably the dad tells her superhero stories as bedtime stories (and at all other times of day) and she's soaked it up.

Actually, Wolverine's real name is James Howlett, but who's counting.

Okay. When she says "It's clobberin' time!" it's pretty dang adorable.

Also, it's pretty funny how she knows a bunch of obscure (to me) stuff but needs help with who leads the X-Men.

Well, to be fair, that varies from week to week these days.

Malice: "Does she know this because she's into comics, into the movies, or because that's what her parents are teaching her?"

Fourth choice: because she's into knowing about Marvel characters. Like DU said, at this age, kids love to become experts on specific topics. My son knows quite a bit about superheroes, despite the fact that 1) the only superhero stuff he's seen are the Spiderman movies and old Superman cartoons, and 2) I'm not really into superheroes.

It's just that he either he sees a commercial, or a picture, or a t-shirt, and asks "who's that?", or, even more common, he asks a question, like, "Who does Iron Man fight?", and I say, "I dunno, hold on, let me check Wikipedia", and I find him his answer, and then he asks questions based on that answer, and I go back to Wikipedia, and on, and on...and, eventually, he knows a ton about certain characters despite not seeing the movies, not reading the comics, and not having a dad who's an expert either.

It seems likely she's watching some sort of superhero cartoon, given that at the end she sings the theme song to something called 'Super Hero Squad.' I think we can rule out (more than the usual, healthy amount of) brainwashing.

Upon further googling, the Dark Surfer she mentioned, who was an aspect of the character I wasn't familiar with, appears to be from said cartoon.

Also, the "It's clobbering time" moment was adorable.
