Michael Tammaro, a long-time professional photographer in New York City, attempted to pull off the perfect apartment scam. Tammaro sublet his apartment to dozens of victims at the same time, then making off with their deposits. He might have gotten away with it—if one of his victims hadn’t turned the tables on him and locked him out of his own apartment. (8,000 word article, but worth the read if you like this sort of thing)
