Man, this reminds me of when we used to take our dogs to the beach on family vacations. They'd go after those sand crabs and it would usually be 10-15 minutes of this. You'd be surprised how often the dogs lost, though. Or got all sad faced because the weird fun toy they were playing with pinched the hell out of them.

I haven't seen a youtube ad maybe ever, so I assume something I have is smiting them dead; adblock seems the most likely.

If you have a YouTube account you can turn off annotations and captions in playback settings. This video was the one that finally made me do BARKS IN HIS SLEEP so.

Yup, running adblock, didn't see any ads. Turned off adblock on the page and reloaded, saw ads.

Also, I have now turned off annotations and muted Beethoven in cute animal videos.

Maybe it is on its way to work. Maybe it is meeting friends down at the crab pub to watch the footie. Maybe it is lost. Maybe it is a whole city full of crabs and this one crab has been delegated to explain to the rules of the city to this amiable puppy intruder.

Clearly the reasonable thing to to do is put a leash on the goddamn dog, and help the crab find a more suitable place to hang out.

Sometimes I imagine that YouTube is a real community where all the animals featured in videos of a million views or more have playdates. (I used to imagine it as more of a Thunderdome, but then I decided something was wrong with me.). Although it is hard to keep such an assortment of animals from doing damage to one another in my imagination, the overwhelming number of indignant and pokey cats manage to keep everyone in line.

This crab could help them.

I have referred the crab to a lawyer who can issue a takedown notice to the videographer for unauthorized use of his likeness. It just seemed the right thing to do.
