I haven't even watched this yet and I'm going to favorite it for the abstract concept alone.

Wow. It's... depressing how cheesy 80s guitar can totally strip the mood and atmosphere from pretty much anything.

This is incredible and I can't + it enough for concept OR execution

The editing is really spot on, too. It's great how fiddling with framing can make a giant imax movie look like a TV intro.

Oh shit, from Bryan Cranston's AMA:
...I did voice work for the Power Rangers years and years ago. Someone once told me they named the blue Power Ranger after me, his last name was Cranston. I found out years later that was true.

Blue ranger, blue meth, not a coincidence.

Another terrific recent riff on Power Rangers: Key & Peele's Power Falcons.

Channel 101's Gigabots feels like yet another riff on Pacific Rim, but it actually came out three years ago. It's a spoofy Neon Genesis Evamorphin' Power Rangers impossibly well-executed on a twenty buck budget.

Okay, that thing from Cranston's AMA led me to check his voice acting history and holy shit he was Isamu!

And here he is: as "Snizard" and "Twinman."

The problem with Gigabots is it kept the duncan brothers from making other funnier things.

I once calculated, if you watch one episode per day, you could watch Power Rangers without a repeat for seven years straight.

I also calculated that you could read one Gottlieb-Newton slash fic per week the whole while.

Also. I grew up next door neighbor to Charlie Day's Grandma, and went to High School with his sister. I've been told I once played softball with him, but I've successfully repressed all of my teenage memories, so I can't confirm that.

(I also now live right next door to another girl I went to highschool with, and we were mutually surprised that we were married to much more attractive spouses than you'd expect, from out of state. These things happen in Rhode Island.)

This list sez there are about 750 episodes, so maybe two years?

Still, that is indeed a metric fuckton of episodes. No wonder they eventually had to resort to having things like a Giant Purse as one of the villains.

Oh my god, Newt & Hermann have the combined Bulk & Skull onscreen credit. IT'S PERFECT.
