The mysterious Permutations, by Chrimères

If you're looking for about half an hour of unusual instrumental music, something that could possibly be classified in the mélange of a genre that is "post-industrial music," you might well enjoy Permutations, by Chrimères. I don't know anything about this beyond what is on Soundcloud, which is that this is a "work in progress" from sometime in/around 2012.

Liking this very much so far. Shades of Coil (not something I say lightly...)

Seriously, this and the fact that "they" are from Midi-Pyrénées, France is all I have found on this artist/group. I've searched for various combinations of terms from that Soundcloud page, and I've found a few weird links back to the page and various MP3 pages (the sort that seem to spider the 'net for any and all MP3s, then offer to sell them back to you), but no new information.

You can't download the songs, but there are sites and extensions that will do so for you, but all you'll get are 128 kbps MP3s, so it's not great.

Shades of Coil (not something I say lightly...)

Thanks for the artist comparison. This sounds similar to other things I've heard before, but I couldn't pull out any artist or group names from my jumbled thoughts and memories. I'm getting hints of Dead Can Dance, but more active, and other things, too. Coil fits nicely.

And I should say mostly instrumental. There are moments of sampled vocals scattered around.

The Austin Osman Spare drawing in the background says Coil (and related musicians) too, on their soundcloud page.

Thanks! This copy of the image on Flickr credits the work to "The book of automatic drawings" by Spare.

There appears to be an album on UK iTunes titled Rogue by the same artist, but other than that, .... nothing I can buy :C

My ears, and brain, they like this.

I'm looking forward to listening to this, but I gotta say, I love the oenophiliac phraseology here. "I'm getting hints of Nurse With Wound and Whitehouse on the nose. Well-proportioned structure with dominant flavors of cassis and stonefruit, with background notes of Severed Heads providing an intriguing counterpoint. The long finish evokes early Skinny Puppy, with sturdy tannins and a silky mouthfeel."

Oh, you could easily revise oenophiliac phraseology for sound classification/snobbery.

"... Well-proportioned structure with dominant elements of cassis and stonefruit, with background notes of Severed Heads providing an intriguing counterpoint. The long finish evokes early Skinny Puppy, with sturdy tannins and a silky earfeel."

And there you go :)

This definitely scratches my eternal itch for the kinds of sounds made by Edward Ka-Spel, The Legendary Pink Dots, Tear Garden and so forth. Thanks for sharing.

It's like The Body Lovers, but if you were naked amongst standing stones and a farmer in a tweed suit is coming at you with a crook, but then he gets naked too and you're like, whoa, that's a little familiar of ye, me old mucker.

Ah, it should be "Chimères," not "Chrimères." Given that, here's the album Faintdreams mentioned upthread, Rouge on CDBaby, but it's more prog rock with some heavy electric guitar riffage, classified there as similar to Gentle Giants and King Crimson.
