RAGEagain

Remember this? The date-entry form no longer works, but that's okay, because now RAGEagain is here to automate (more than ever before) the process of reliving episodes of the beloved long-running minimalist Australian music video program rage from 1998 onwards, by automatically pulling songs listed on rage's archive of playlists from YouTube.

Something that wasn't obvious to me at first and may not be to you: unlike the old site, RAGEagain dosn't offer a list of videos to click. Instead, you can jump from video to video using the arrows either side of the pause'play button.

RAGE is one of the things I miss moving to the US. We never really had Saturday morning cartoons so when I was a teen I'd get up, put it on and just watch it all through the morning. We didn't have Youtube back then so it was the only real opportunity to see music videos.

Is there a 'just show episodes where people played 70s/80s' stuff filter? Because I can only take so much Powderfinger.

OK, why won't it play past the RAGE intro? I've disabled Ghostery / AdBlock. iMac, OS X 10.10.1, Chrome 42.0.2311.90 (64-bit).

obiwanwasabi, for me - Win 7, Firefox latest, Ghostery on - after it plays the good 'ol RAGE intro it goes to Episode view (you see it switch, at top left, from video icon to list-view icon) and from there I could click on an episode listing and view the song vids.

I can get episode view (four rectangles top left next to the camera icon) and select an episode. The name of a song and artist appears, but the screen is black.

Oh well, works fine in Safari.

I made the playlist generator linked in the previous thread over a weekend in 2010 and I don't think I've touched it since then. I'm kind of surprised that the site still works at all.

No discussion of Rage would be complete without this (plus bonus Milo Kerrigan).

I'm not Australian, but I still have rage to thank for preserving this clip of Iggy Pop and David Bowie on the Dinah Shore Show.

Oh hell, yeah, I spent a lot of boozy post-pub couch sessions with Rage back in the day in Sydney, and I hadn't thought about it for years. Thank you!

In 1988 we got to take a bus from Townsville to Brisbane for Expo 88. It was just endless grainy, noisy tapes of RAGE on the tiny bus telly all the way there, and all the way back. Rage was less than a year old and was the coolest thing ever. However, Stock Aitken Waterman mania was at its peak. I Should Be So Lucky, indeed. (OK, it was awesome.)
