Dawn Porter's Trapped documentary about the effect of Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws opens in NYC, LA and DC today, more theaters around the US next week.

John Oliver drew heavily on Trapped for his piece on abortion in the US last weekend. The legality of TRAP laws will be considered by SCOTUS this month.

Dahlia Litwick's article is, unsurprisingly, excellent. You will love RBG even more after reading it.

Yeah, she came out of the gates swinging. By the time it was over, Keller had been strung up and used like a rhetorical piñata.

The recent oral arguments have really shown what Scalia's absence at the Court means.

Once again, I'm going to mention the On the Media episode about the basic failure of reporting about the politics and majority opinion about abortion in the US (spoiler alert: most Americans have a complicated nuanced view of abortion, resulting in a discomfort with making the decision for anyone but themselves, thus not really favoring bans, whether outright or de facto).

Gideon's Army (another of Porter's films) was excellent, so I'm sure this one will be too. I will probably pay to see it to support her work but will undoubtedly find it too difficult to sit through (by way of explanation, my position on abortion is "On demand, no excuses" and my primary charity these days is Medical Students for Choice because abortion care is not standard in medical school curricula, even though it's necessary care in a percentage of all women's lives).

My dad used to get that allergy series where they slowly raise the dose but try to stay under your immunological limit. For various reasons he was very non-tolerant and would have bad reactions while in the waiting room and would have to get an epinepherine shot. But his allergist wasn't required to have hallways wide enough to fit two stretchers side-by-side, even though there was a possibility that some patient would need to go to an emergency room with a bad allergic reaction. His allergist did not have admitting privileges at any hospital.

Dawn Porter is the best! She made: Gideon's Army . I can't wait to see this movie (and be depressed and cry).
