Dan Marshall (@danthat) knows nothing about football. Is that going to stop him from making a football game? It is not!
p.s. They're talking about soccer.

So far it seems to be faring better than Jon's Basketball Game ever did.

This actually looks really fun, in a Tecmo Bowl sort of way. I like the slowmo aim/power thing, and I like how accurately he's implemented the rules of football.

Needs corner zones that, when entered, cause Sgt. Bash to roll out and set players on fire.

So this kickmen footie, it's like rocket league but without the cars? What an interesting concept.

Well this is lacking some basic components of any video game including:
1) Crates
2) Crates that are on fire
So let's not get ahead of ourselves.

So this works because soccer actually doesn't have many rules, right? Like this wouldn't go well if he had tried to make a baseball game -- or since this is the UK, a cricket game?

Right. I think you could do a similar thing with basketball or lacrosse or one of the other "put the ball over THERE" games where the more fiddley rules can be easily ignored by unskilled players without losing the sense of what game is being played.

Also, it should be "Kicksmen" with an s, because each man may kick the "ball" more than once.

I'm pretty sure that 43-Man Squamish _is_ cricket, though there isn't a satisfying video game version of it yet.

Trying to work out how to turn this football game into a Roguelike. It's going to be tricky but I think I can do it.

It would be hard for me to be more delighted by all this. Bonkers sports games are a thing that needs to keep happening.

These tweets make me laugh so much. I love how he's stumbling his way into making something that looks really good despite his ambivalence about the subject matter.

New feature! When you do a goal, the umpire runs over and gives you a little kiss!
