Chiptunes have a particular problem, in that it's seemingly impossible for radio stations to clear them for broadcast due to them being outside the normal musical rights licensing systems. Perhaps it's different in other territories, but I've hit this when working on UK radio documentaries that were crying out for some 8-bit goodness - but nope, not allowed.
Which is a shame, for all sorts of reasons but mostly because a chunk of culture that means a lot to a lot of people isn't getting its fair share of documentation and dissemination.

Well, now I’m confused. Why would this be the case? And by “chiptune” are you talking about an early video game soundtrack or even something like a pop song by Anamanaguchi? (The latter would fall under conventional music licensing rights in the US, so I’m assuming the former...)

Was that a tiny bit of the PS1 boot sound in the beginning?
In any case, neat stuff.

Looking forward to hearing this when I'm back in the office. C418 is my go-to programming music.
(On preview: Pun not intended!)

Maybe, but I never owned a PS1. There definitely was a MGS comms chime in the middle though, which threw me because for a good number of years that was my phone's ringtone.

And how great is Olly Moss's cover art for the Firewatch soundtrack? Super great.
