Check out the awesome snow and ice sculptures at the 2016 Harbin Ice and Snow Festival!
Every year, in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, the city of Harbin hosts the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, featuring massive ice and snow sculptures—more than a million visitors are anticipated this year. At night, the sculptures are colorfully illuminated and visitors can climb and play on some of the structures.

All icy is the paywall.

I didn't encounter a paywall but a lot of the same pictures (and some different ones) are available here.

oh, wow!!!! Those are stunning! I cant tell which i like better- the pristine, tightly packed snow, or the blocks that look like glass. This is just so awesome.

The festival took place this time last year. Just for reference - the weather there now is -3°F (-19 C).

We went one year, and it was in fact quite beautiful. But that was also the year I learned the hard way that -40 F = -40 C.

If you go, bring a coat.

Wow, number 22 is huge! I hate being outside in the cold, but I would probably make an exception to visit Harbin.

My girlfriend went to this when she was living in China. The scale of since of these sculptures really is amazing. She has very fond memories, despite loathing cold weather.

Also, you can get some sort of alcoholic punch served in cups made of ice... Because ice festival. That might have helped with the fond memories.

I went over ten years ago and my toes are still thawing.

The best part was the ice slides!
