Isn't "a community of cannibals in a Texas wasteland" a tautology?

Fuck yeeeeeeah.

If you've not seen A Girl Walks Home At Night do so immediately. Save yourself some time by ordering the soundtrack as well, you'll want it.

I was just talking to a friend of mine how I really love trailers that convey the tone and mood of a film without actually giving away the plot. The second trailer definitely falls into that category. I wish more film studios had the confidence in the material to sell the look and feel of their movies instead of the main plot beats.

It doesn't hurt that Amirpour plays in mood and visuals extremely heavily (at least if A Girl Walks was any indication) but they've managed to do this with the new Star Wars movies quite well as well. I'm definitely intrigued. Also, having seen Reeves in Neon Demon my skin crawls every time he's on screen not as John Wick.

I also have a weird fondness for Jason Momoa in spite of the fact that he's not actually been that great in anything nor has he been in anything very good or memorable. I want him to succeed to retroactively justify my fascination with him.

Looks intriguing as all hell. I pretty much guarantee it won't show up in my town

(I love me some Jason Momoa too. Of course, I also like seeing that the kānaka ʻōiwi can be as incredibly badass looking as the history I learned when growing up there during part of my youth showed they could be.)

OTOH, I would love to see something cast him as a complete antithesis to his incredible badassitude.

I really wanted to like A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and I was sad at how much I was disappointed with it. (I think the final scene went a long way in redeeming it, though.) I generally love movies that are all meandering mood and atmosphere. I loved the whole concept behind this movie. It just ... didn't do what I wanted for me. I get if it did for others.

I'm nervous The Bad Batch may have triggers on some of the gory things I dislike in movies (I've gotten better but I'm still super squeamish when it comes to gore) but it looks super stylish in a good way and like it has something it wants to say. Even if I didn't love Amirpour's A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, I liked it enough to give this new one a try. I like women filmmakers and I'm happy for filmmakers to be interesting and fail than to not be interesting at all.
